Grand Rapids and the surrounding areas have so many great options for your session. Let's talk to discuss your location - we'll make sure the spot gives the perfect vibe for your pictures. You want the location and your outfits to make sense together, so if you're going for a more formal look, we might choose a place with buildings and architectural elements rather than a field of wildflowers.
Here are my top ten places for pictures in Grand Rapids that can help inspire your photoshoot.
Downtown Grand Rapids
Looking for an urban, city vibe? Downtown Grand Rapids is the place to be. With skyscrapers, historic buildings, and vibrant murals, there's a little bit of everything.
Blandford Nature Center
If you're craving a more natural, earthy feel, Blandford Nature Center is the perfect spot. There's a field full of wildflowers in the summer, amazing colors in the fall, and winding trails to find your perfect photo backdrop. Keep an eye out for cute critters that might just wander into your frame!
Provin Trails
For the nature lovers out there, Provin Trails is a must. If a towering white pine forest is your goal, this is the place for you. There are even some small sand dunes.
Aquinas College
Elegant, historic architecture meets lush, manicured grounds at Aquinas College. Whether you're finding a quiet spot by the reflection pond or exploring the timeless brick buildings, this campus is full of photo-worthy gems.
Calvin College
Calvin College offers a stunning blend of architectural beauty and natural serenity. The campus features timeless brick buildings, a serene pond, and a charming stone bridge set amidst a lush, green lawn - providing a versatile backdrop for any photoshoot.
Eastown
For the urban explorer, Eastown is the perfect spot for your photoshoot. Its eclectic streets are lined with quaint boutiques and cozy cafes, creating a wealth of interesting backdrops. Eastown's vibrant personality shines through in every frame, adding an extra layer of creativity and personality to your session.
Ada Covered Bridge
Embrace the small-town charm of the Ada Covered Bridge, with its distinctive red wooden exterior and picturesque setting along the Thornapple River. This historic structure makes for a dreamy, nostalgic backdrop.
Grand Ravines
The Grand Ravines is one of my absolute favorite spots for sessions. This beautiful park offers a picturesque covered bridge and a suspension bridge - such charming, one-of-a-kind backdrops. And the vibrant fall foliage along the Grand River is truly stunning. The park is also home to a beautiful, historic red barn.
Beyond the bridges and barn, the tranquil river and serene atmosphere provide endless opportunities for beautiful images. You might even spot a bald eagle as there are a few who live there.
The Blue Bridge
If you are looking for an iconic Grand Rapids pictures, we need to go to the Blue Bridge. This striking pedestrian bridge offers panoramic views of the city skyline and the winding curves of the Grand River. It's in a central area so we can easily capture other downtown areas at the same time.
